Southwark celebrates The Queen's
Jubilee

From
Bankside to Beddington, Denmark Hill to Limpsfield, Southwark celebrated the
Queen's Golden Jubilee at the beginning of June. The national festival was
celebrated in style on the south bank of the Thames as Southwark Cathedral and
Borough Market welcomed the thousands who came to play and pray on Sunday 2
June, for a day of "Southwark
Jubilation".
In
Clapham, HRH Princess Alexandra and Sir Angus Ogilvy 'dropped in' on
St Peter's
parish Jubilee street party (photo right) and in Tolworth over 1,000 people
joined Emmanuel Church's community celebrations including a local 'It's a
Knockout' contest (below).
In
Addiscombe, at St
Mildred's, a choir 'family barbecue' grew into a major
community event; St Michaels,
Beddington, used the Jubilee to raise money for
Chernobyl children and the balloons went up on Denmark Hill as the Jubilee was
marked with the first ever 'Three Hills Festival'. In fact, all over the
Diocese, there were fundays, flower festivals, special church services, parish
lunches, you name it, you did it!
Here and
in Parish Jubilee News & Cathedral Jubilee News are just some of the stories and
photos of the Jubilee in Southwark Diocese
