Journey with Southwark Cathedral

Pilgrimage to Turkey 2005Each year the Cathedral organises an opportunity for people to make a pilgrimage. These events are open to members of the congregation and others who would like to travel with us. In previous years we have been to the Holy Land, Turkey, Greece, Rome and Assisi, Jordan and Syria.

In 2009 from 22 May to 1 June there will be a pilgrimage to Jordan and Sinai. We will be travelling through the fascinating kingdom of Jordan visiting, amongst other places, the spectacular rose coloured city of Petra, Mount Nebo from where Moses was allowed a glimpse of the Promised Land and will sail across the Red Sea to Sinai where we visit the monastery of St Catherine on the slopes of Mount Sinai where Moses received the Ten Commandments. This is a real opportunity to engage with some of the fundamental events in the Old Testament. Download Itinerary here

Please note that the Jordan and Sinai pilgrimage is now fully booked but a waiting list has been opened. Please forward your booking form without a deposit to get your name on this waiting list.

2010 is the year when the Oberammergau Passion Play is performed. This happens every ten years and for Christians is a real 'must-see'. The whole population of the Bavarian village are involved in the staging and performance of the play which is the response to a vow made to God by their ancestors during plague-ridden years in the 17th century. We are only able to spend two nights in the village and the remainder of the village will be spent in the mountains and lakes nearby.

We will be taking two groups to share in the Oberammergau experience for 8 days from 7-14 June and for 10 days from 28 July - 6 August. Both holidays will provide not only a wonderful spiritual experience but also a marvellous summer break in sumptuous surroundings. Download Itinerary here
